In line with his commitment to empower the people of Kaduna State, the Governor, Dr. Mukthtar Ramalan Yero has distributed starter packs to beneficiaries of 2012 Sure-P training program selected from the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, held at the Township Stadium Kaduna, Tuesday, April 16, 2014.
He said the empowerment of the youths and women is to provide the wherewithal for entrepreneurship which will serve as a revival of their contributions to the socio-economic development of Kaduna, stating that the transfer of technology and rigorous training of beneficiaries was facilitated by reputable trainers like Kaduna Agricultural Development Program (KADP), Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Kaduna Polytechnic, Department of Forestry and a host of others.
He commended the Sure-P training beneficiaries for their commitment and high sense of responsibility during the training, urging youths to empower themselves through skills and desist from social vices.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman Sure-P Kaduna State and Deputy Governor, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga commended Governor Yero for his unprecedented support for the progress of youths and women in the State and for personal visit to the training centers across the State, saying this gesture is an expression of his passion to alleviate poverty in the State.
The 7,600 beneficiaries of the youth and women empowerment programme were trained on different skills ranging from animal husbandry, horticulture, cosmetology, aluminum works, bricklaying, leather works, block-making, GSM repairs, honey processing, plumbing, photography, printing, poultry and fishing. The starter pack was complemented by a cash of N10, 000 each.
Other goodwill messages received were from the Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris represented by the Emir of Jema’a Alhaji Mohammed Isa and Chairman of ALGON Kaduna and Kagarko LGA, Rt. Hon. Danjuma Akuso.
