Commercial Agriculture Development Project (CADP)

Commercial Agriculture Development Project, (CADP) is a comprehensive five-year project developed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources (FMAWR) in collaboration with the World Bank and other stakeholders.

The project approach to boost the income of the target beneficiary is through a value chain approach with special emphasis placed on beneficiaries belonging to relevant CIGs/CADA at various levels.

The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to strengthen agricultural production systems and facilitate access to market for targeted value chains (Dairy, Fruits and Maize) among 10,000 small and medium scale commercial farmers within the 5 years of project implementation in the State.

A total of 57 sub projects have fully been implemented (52 for Maize, 4 for Dairy and 1 for Fruit) valued at N732, 201,207 with IDA contributing N364, 930,981 for 2,224 direct beneficiaries and over 50,000 indirect beneficiaries.

The project has constructed 8No. farm access roads totaling 61.48km across the State and is in the process of awarding contract for about 9No. more sites in phase II.
