New Rice for Africa Project(NERICA)

The Project is being executed state-wide and its main objective is to enhance domestic rice production, food security poverty alleviation and import substitution. The Project is jointly being sponsored by the African Development Bank ADB, Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government. It covers the entire 23 LGAs with concentrations in Chikun, Kajuru, Igabi & Soba.

The Project is focused on supporting small-scale rice producers and processors to improve production, processing, marketing and their household incomes through the adoption and dispersal of high yielding NERICA rice varieties and complementary technologies.

Feeder roads rehabilitation is on-going under the infrastructural component of NERICA program in eight locations of the project covering five LGAs across the State with total distance of 60.94km.
