Root and Tuber Expansion Project

The Root and Tuber Expansion Programme has been a tremendous success and through it the government was able to boost and promote the production, processing as well as marketing of root and tuber crops to a suitable level.

The crops being promoted under the program include cassava, sweet and Irish potato, cocoyam and ginger.

The programme vigorously being executed in Kaduna State is sponsored by IFAD with state, local government and beneficiaries contributing their counterpart funds. The execution of the project resulted in the distribution of over 10 thousand bundles of improved cassava planting materials to farmers across the state, empowered 27 groups to establish cassava processing center.
