Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, the Governor of Kaduna state
 

His Excellency Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa was born in Fadan Kagoma of Jema’a Local

Government of Kaduna State on 1st December 1948. He had his Primary Schools at St. Paul’s Primary School Fadan Kagoma and St. Pius Primary School Magamiya. He then proceeded to the famous St. Mary’s Secondary School Fadan Kaje and St. John College Kaduna for both his 0’ Levels and Higher School Certificates.

After Graduating with a B. Sc (Social Sciences) from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in June 1972, he joined the Civil Service of the then North Central State as a career Administrative Officer. He served in the Civil Service at various capacities as Division Officer (DO), Secretary in the Military Governor’s Office, and Local Government Sole Administrator.

He reached the pinnacle of his administrative career when he was appointed Permanent Secretary in the service of Kaduna State and served in the Ministries of Health, Works and Transport before transferring to the Federal Civil Service in 1990. At the request of the Military Administration of 1994-1997 he served as Commissioner in the State. On return to the Federal Service from the State assignment, he was appointed Director Joint Services Ministry of Defense February 1997 – August 1998.

Further national service saw him to the position of Federal Minister of Solid Minerals Development and at the transition of 1999 he was appointed Permanent Secretary and retired from the Federal Service June 14th, 1999.

It is worth being noted that at the Political arena, His Excellency was the State Sole Administrator of National Republican Convention (NRC) that saw to the 2nd Republic Democratic experiment of 1990- 1993.

He was Vice Chairman Finance Committee Makarfi Campaign Organization 2003, served at the National Party Level of PDP as Rivers State Screening Committee Chairman 2003. He was Appointed Secretary to the Government of Kaduna State in September, 2003 and Deputy Governor in July 2005. He became the Executive Governor of Kaduna State on the 20th of May, 2010 following the selection of Arc Muhammed Namadi Sambo, FNIA, GCON as the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 19th of May 2010.
