Kaduna
State Government
penultimate week in the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
(KSA) secured a loan of
USD15million to
construct four science
secondary schools from
the Islamic Development
Bank
(IDB). This was after
the Annual Board meeting
of the bank which was
held on Tuesday 18th
August 2009 at the
Bank’s headquarters in
Jeddah. The loan which
was guaranteed by the
Federal Ministry of
Finance is for the
construction and
equipping of four
science secondary
schools in Manchok in
Kaura Local Government
Area, Koraye in
Sabongari Local
Government Area,
Rigachikun in Igabi
Local Government Area
and the New Kaduna
Millennium City.
This feat was achieved
after a PowerPoint
presentation and
courtesy calls to the
President of the Bank Dr
Ahmed Mohammed Ali and
the Vice President
(Operations) Birama
Boubacar Sidibe and
other Management of the
Bank including Mr Amari
Sangore Country
Operations II by His
Excellency Arc Mohammed
Namadi Sambo accompanied
by a powerful delegation
including the
commissioners of
Finance, Lands, Science
&Technology, Managing
Director of the Kaduna
Investment & Finance
Company (KIFC), Special
Adviser on ICT and DG
Media & Public
Affairs.Others include
businessmen and
financial consultants.
During the presentation,
His Excellency dwelt on
the issues of Security,
Education including the
itinerant Islamic
education and science
education, the Kaduna
State University,
Healthcare Delivery
including the efforts
made trough MDGs in
rehabilitating and
equipping hospitals and
provision of facilities,
the equipment leasing of
the 200-bed specialist
hospital, Energy,
Agriculture with
emphasis on irrigation,
commercial viabilities
of New Millennium City
and other projects
embarked upon by the
State and called for
investors’ support for
infrastructural
development.
The President of the
Islamic Development Bank
congratulated the
governor for visionary
leadership and making
available basic things
for life and providing
the real services people
need. He enjoined other
states in Nigeria to
emulate the excellent
model developed by the
state. He said that such
thinking is a reflection
of the way the people
are governed. He
enthused that IDB would
do anything possible to
support great effort. He
said that such
pioneering activities to
support will be looked
at in conjunction with
the Operations
Department of the Bank
on areas of
collaboration with the
State.
The Vice President of
the bank was elated with
the PowerPoint
presentation and said he
was impressed with the
visionary leadership of
the Governor. He
promised that the bank
will collaborate in the
areas of Energy,
Infrastructure, Health
and agriculture. He
enjoined the state to
set up investors’ day as
it is really good for
business opportunities.
