The
Kaduna state government has said that the approval of
foreign treatments for three officials is not a waste of
resources.
The deputy governor, Mr Patrick Yakowa, the Secretary to
the State Government (SSG), Mr Waje Yayok, and the Speaker
of Kaduna state House of Assembly, Malam Abdullahi Adamu,
travelled abroad for medical treatment.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Alhaji Umar
Sani, told newsmen in Kaduna that the cost of the
treatments was provided in the budget.
Sani said the government had a responsibility to sponsor
the the cost of treatment of the officials anywhere in the
world.
``Since they work for the government a lot, it is expected
that if they are sick, adequate treatment should be given
to them, even as compensation, so that they will recover
and serve the state well," he said.
Sani said there was no cause for worry over the conditions
of the officials, saying the SSG returned at the weekend,
while the Deputy Governor would return yesterday while the
Speaker next week.
