Gov Namadi Sambo Reiterates Stance Against Crime, Visits
Highway Black Spots

In line with
his insistence against crime within and around Kaduna
State, Governor Namadi Sambo has paid an unscheduled visit
to black spots along Kaduna-Abuja expressway where men of
the 'Operation Yaki' are stationed.
The visit
according to Architect Sambo, is to demonstrate his desire
to make the state a crime-free one, while stepping up
activities to combat crime within the state and along its
highways.
Operation Yaki,
which means war against crime, is a special squad created
by Governor Mohammed Namadi Sambo to combat crime in the
state, especially along its highways. About 100 vehicles
and several communication gadgets have been procured by
the state government for the progra-mme, which is expected
to be launched later this month.
Already,
squads of the Operation Yaki comprising both military men
and police have since been stationed in strategic
locations and black spots where armed robbers terrorize
innocent people.
The area
includes Kaduna-Abuja expressway, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari
highway and Kaduna-Jos road.
The governor,
who was on an official visit to Abuja, reiterated the
commitment of his government to securing the lives and
properties of people of the state in line with the
11-point agenda of his administration.
He expressed
satisfaction with the operation of the squad and directed
them to be moving around the expressway with a view to
intercepting armed robbers.
Meanwhile, the
Kaduna state commissioner of police, Mr. Haz Iwendi in an
interview with newsmen in Kaduna said the squads have
since commenced operation. He noted the preparedness of
the police in the state to combat crime and commended the
Governor Namadi Sambo for supporting the activities of
police in the state.
The police
commissioner then appealed to the people of the state to
join hands with the police in their bid to make the state
more habitable for them.
Governor
Arch Mohammed Namadi Sambo is a true democrat, whose approach to problems is
always humane and conciliatory he is a man of peace who patiently looked to
the future with courage and hope. His commitment in the direction of
transforming the state into a relatively better integrated and functional
polity is continuing with a mission to create a stable and
cohesive polity capable of securing effectively the interests of the various
communities and giving them the opportunity to develop and live in peace
with one another.
