KADUNA STATE
GOVERNMENT PROCURES FERTILIZER
From SA on ICT, Kaduna
April 27,
2008
Kaduna State Government
procured about 69,600 metric tonnes of assorted Fertilizer
to be sold to farmers across the State. Commissioner for
Information and Home Affairs,
Alhaji Saidu Adamu disclosed
this to Government House Correspondents shortly after the
State Executive Council Meeting at Sir Kashim Ibrahim
House Kaduna. He said government in line with its
Eleven-Point Agenda to provide adequate fertilizer for
Agriculture purpose and further subsidize the price of the
commodity aimed at ensuring that it is affordable to
farmers even at the grassroots levels.
The State Executive Council
warned seriously against the activities of middlemen who
are in the habit of creating artificial scarcity and
hardship to the farmers before getting fertilizer to buy
at government control prices. Any one caught in such an
ungodly act would be prosecuted accordingly. Continuing
the Commissioner noted that government also intends to re
introduce the State-owned Rail Transport System within the
State soon, all aimed at reducing the hardships being
faced by its people as far as transportation is concerned.
Dialogue is going on between the State Government and the
authorities of the Nigerian Railway Authority to that
effect.
