(Kaduna)
ABOUT 10 years
after it was thrown into communal conflict, the
people of Zango Kataf council in Kaduna State have
pledged to bury their differences and live in
peace, with a view to promoting development in the
area.
Over a decade ago, Zango Kataf was thrown into
crisis, which led to the death of several people
and destruction of properties.
The resolution of the community to promote
peace and tranquillity came on the heels of an
interactive meeting of the leaders and other
inhabitants of the area, organised by the Zango
Kataf Community Development Association, with the
theme, "Consolidating the unity of the people of
Zango Kataf Local Government Area".
In separate papers presented during the
occasion, the Acting Director-General of National
Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS),
Dr. Yakubu Sankey, and Former Commissioner of
Education in the state, Dr. Francis Mutua, called
for unity among the people of the area, saying
that as humans it was necessary to forgive one
another and unite for the progress of the
community.
Another contributor at the parley, a lecturer
at the Kaduna State University, Dr. Simon Katang,
admonished prominent personalities in the area to
invest in education and agriculture. He added that
they were the major sectors that would enhance the
growth of the inhabitants of the area.
In his address, Chairman of the occasion, Rev.
Zamani Kafang, called on the politicians to have
the fear of God in whatever they do in order to
attract His blessings.
The Chairman of the council area, Mr. Timothy
Kambai, prayed for continued peace among all
citizens, irrespective of their differences, while
stressing that, "it is my view and conviction that
the goals and objectives of our leaders shall be
cherished and sustained realistically by all with
pride, irrespective of our differences."
