GOVERNOR NAMAPI SAMBO BAGS INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR PEACE. SECURITY & COMMUNITY SAFETY

Governor Mohammed Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State has been conferred with the 2009 International Award for Peace, Security & Community Safety by an Abuja based Community Safety & Security Partners (COMSEC), supported by Professional Bodies And International Agencies.

Governor Sambo's nomination was announced during a courtesy call on the Governor by a 15 member Research Advisory Board of COMSEC recently.

According to the national coordinator of COMSEC, Dr Mohammed Ibrahim, the decision to confer the Award on Governor Sambo was due to his unprecedented commitment to peace & security in Kaduna State. Earlier the Co-Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of a retreat being organized by COMSEC and the National Defence College (NDC), Brig Gen Charles Omoregie had under scored the positive efforts of Governor Namadi Sambo in the provision of Security in Kaduna which had led to influx of businesses to the state. Acknowledging the primacy of peace to development, Gen Omoregie stressed the determination of the NDC towards partnering with stakeholders exploring ways to ensuring peace & security in our society.

Responding Governor Mohammed Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State restated his government's determination towards the enthronement of peace and provision of security in the state.

According to Governor Sambo, States and Governmental institutions must give due credence to capacity building and training on peace and security matters, assuring that his administration will continue to support all initiatives aimed at peaceful co-existence and security of its citizens. He re-emphasized that in His 11-point agenda, Peace and Security occupies a foremost position.

He recalled the numerous development projects in the offing in Kaduna State and emphasized the need for enhanced international security rating to enable Nigerians and Foreigners to key into these development efforts. This, according to him, has elevated Kaduna state to a safe haven for foreign investors and tourist.
