GOODWILL MESSAGE BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR
OF KADUNA STATE AT THE OCCASION OF CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR
CELEBRATIONS 2007.
Fellow
Compatriots,
The birth
of DEATH AND THE RISING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIS
ASCENSION TO HEAVEN IS celebrated all over the world by
Christians AND is here again. The Good Friday and the
Easter Monday of December of every year marks the
beginning of the Christmas as that was the day Jesus
Christ was born in Bethlehem.
His birth
has significantly affected people all over the world with
the message of hope and peace that he preaches to them. He
has within his short stay affected the lives of the people
positively such that people world over are striving hard
to emulate his exemplary life for the betterment of their
environment.
As a
period of sober reflection and forgiveness of sins, I urge
you to embrace those tenets of togetherness, love, peace
and oneness so that we shall reach the Promised Land.
The
greatest of all Commandments is to love thy neigbour as
thyself and doing good to your neighbour to foster
friendliness and greater cooperation.
As we
celebrate this Christmas and New Year festivities, I call
on you the good people of Kaduna State to emulate the
examples left behind by Jesus Christ for the good of all.
As a mark
of respect for our brothers in various gaols across the
State, and in consultation with the State Advisory Council
on prerogative of mercy, I have decided to extend a
gesture of humanness by proclaiming State pardon to
deserving prisoners within my jurisdiction.
Accordingly, 28 prisoners with lesser prison sentences and
minor offences have been granted Amnesty. I wish to draw
the attention of the pardoned prisoners to correction and
re-dedicate themselves to the services of humanity
They
should also integrate themselves to the larger community
and win back the confidence of the people. The people
should also accept them as part of the society and guide
them towards speedy rehabilitation.
As we
celebrate these festivities I call on the good people of
the State to be security conscious and drive safely so
that the New Year shall come to pass to us in good health.
As we
enter the New Year, I shall call upon the good people of
the state to continue to give us the needed cooperation so
that together we shall deliver on our planned programmes
and promises to them.
Merry
Christmas and happy New Year.
